Tank Dawson & the corner on Cherry St.
Earl "Tank" Dawson started Peach Garage in 1984 in a two-bay building he leased from his uncle two blocks from downtown Macon. He was twenty-three, freshly ASE-certified, and convinced that an honest mechanic who showed his work could build a loyal following. Forty years in, that bet has paid off.
Today the garage has grown to six bays, and Tank's daughter DeShay handles the front desk and scheduling while his nephew Marcus runs the brake and suspension work. The rule hasn't changed: write up an estimate before you touch the car, call the customer with any surprises, and never replace something that doesn't need replacing.
We've been here through the ballpark opening, through the Otis Redding Museum and the downtown revamp, and we'll be here when you need us next.
